Next Gen Heat are agents for Alcon Biomass Boilers. The burning of straw in the correct burn chamber has a very high calorific value. Straw at 15 % moisture is ideal and allow 2.5 kg of straw = 1 lt of oil.The normal weight of a round bale of straw 150 kg which is has the energy value of 60 lt of oil. At the current price of oil or gas a round bale of straw is worth €55.
The tillage sector now has a market into the energy sector and straw will be half the cost of oil. The normal boilers are industrial where straw is loaded into the burn chamber and then burnt at a correct temperature of 1200° C. The unit will have a buffer tank of 20,000 lt to store this energy. Then as the heat is required the buffer tank supplies the heat to the building or area in question example being swinmming pool, hotel or grain dryer.
Next Gen Heat have currently 3 straw boiler projects in progress and and will be able to do group visits to these systems during 2013.
